Description: Many people dispute and reject the commonly accepted date of December 21, 2012, as the end date of the Maya Long Count Calendar and insist that based on scientific evidence the actual end date of the Maya calendar is October 28, 2011.

Since at least the late 1990′s, John Major Jenkins and Carl Johan Calleman have debated the meaning of the Mayan calendar end date, focusing especially on whether the energies of the Long Count Calendar end on October 28, 2011, or December 21, 2012. According to Calleman, this still remains the most important question facing anyone interested in the “2012 phenomenon.”

Our staff and organizers have decided to remain neutral in this dispute and have chosen instead to celebrate both dates with equally spectacular musical and cultural events. We invite everyone to attend both of these celebrations and judge for themselves.
